NORTHERN DESIGN CENTRE
Northern Design Centre is the newest icon on the NewcastleGateshead skyline and has quickly become the premier location for creative and design led businesses in the North East of England. You could call it designing for the designers.
We have created premium studios and conference facilities that are centred around service, functional design and striking architecture, whilst infusing all these key elements into a friendly community feel.
Northern Design Centre ensures that your staff will excel in a positive environment, one that you would be proud to invite your clients to visit, as well as offering a key central location, only a short walk from the hustle and bustle and amenities of NewcastleGateshead.
Northern Design Centre is a place where world-class concepts, collaborations and initiatives can be imagined, created, designed and developed. Over four floors, the 60,000 sq ft centre creates a regional design hub that promotes the importance and understanding of good design in the North of England – combined with a sense of innovation and fun.
It offers creative spaces for the region’s hottest designers, incubation units for exciting start ups, studios for established businesses, and bespoke conference and research facilities.
And with a dedicated business collaboration network Design Network North (DNN) based on site, Northern Design Centre has emerged as the regional focal point for NewcastleGateshead’s growing design industry.
PROTO: The Emerging Technology Centre is a state-of-the-art research and development facility equipped with sound recording studio and specialist 3D character and motion capture equipment for hire. It’s also a place where tech driven SMEs can rent office space or co work from.

By removing one of the biggest barriers to entry (i.e. cost) Gateshead Council is giving start-ups, access to the tech they need to digitalise their own business or develop innovative new products.
You’ll find us on Baltic Quarter, Gateshead. The area, which has United Kingdom Science Park Association (UKSPA) status, is home to over 40 creative tech, digital and design companies; the number one college in the region; Northern Design Centre, Baltimore House and Riga (opening soon).
